       Veterans Day
Veterans day is a special ceremony that is held each year on November 11th. This ceremony purpose was to commemorate those that survived in war and those that gave their lives to protect others. About 5.7 million or more seved I the Korean War in (1950 to 1953). Congress amended the 1938 act that had made Armistice Day a holiday, striking the word “Armistice” in favor of “Veterans.” President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the legislation on June 1, 1954. From then on, November 11 became a day to honor American veterans of all wars.

Britain, France, Australia and Canada also commemorate the veterans of world Wars 1 and 2 on or near November 11th: Canada has Remembrance Day, while Britain has remembrance on Sunday (the second Sunday of November). Europe, Britain and the Commonwealth countries it is common to observe two minutes of silence at 11a.m every November 11th.

But Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day – a common miss understanding. Memorial Day is  celebrated (the fourth Monday of May) witch honors American service members who died in service to their country or as result of injuries that occurred in battle, while Veterans Day pay tribute to those living or dead but especially the living.

Reflection: I thank all the military for serving our country and protecting our freedom.
